It was just over a week ago (Sat 2nd April) that Esther started the photographic documentation of the library renovation. We went in before any clean-up work and the building was in a very sorry state. There were mushrooms growing from the carpet, the parquet floor had risen in many places from the damp and pigeon mess was coating most surfaces. We probably do not have to go into much detail about the smell!
Then the team (of 2 men) went in to make the building safe and clear away debris. What a transformation in such a short time.
Today (Mon 11th April) the exterior was treated to a good wash and Esther took more pictures. We can only post the pictures we took with our iPad but when Esther uploads hers we will post them for you to see.
We have a week and 3 days to get it to the point where we can safely let the public in on Friday 22nd April. It is extremely important to us that the doors get opened so that people who have been fighting to save this wonderful building can finally access it again.
