Following a lively Gross Motor Skills workout, the boys settled down with the sensory toys.
SaturdaysWe started back in very small groups at the end of August. Families told us that they had really missed the sessions - we'd missed the kids too. To make sure the sessions are safe we ventilate well, wear face coverings, sanitise, social distance and provide individual resources bagged and ready for each child. The pictures below are from Saturday 26th September. This Saturday (3rd October) well be making helicopters. Amanda got this activity from NASA and it is pretty cool. Excuse my poor video skills. TuesdaysWe have re-vamped our Tuesday session and tonight we had 3 children attend at 4pm. The session is called Happy Hour and we will be tackling various issues that affect group members such as anxiety and anger management. Feel Free to share the flyer below. ![]()
We had lots of fun in one of our Saturday sessions creating a Yoga Story. Together we came up with our own story and added fun yoga poses to go with it. Here we made a version so you can have a go at our yoga story too. You could also make your own Yoga Story, go on give it a try.
This story was created by Oliver, Enid, Lindzi & Charlotte. Thanks to Charlotte for the lovely art work which she produced using Autodesk Sketchbook. Have a go at making your very own Picasso Masterpiece. Let the roll of a dice decide what your Picasso face will become. All you need is some paper, coloured pen/pencils and a dice. (If you don't have a dice you can always write 1-6 on 6 small pieces of paper, put them in a bowl and pull them out at random). Have fun creating your portrait masterpieces just like Picasso. We would love to see what you create so why not post a link in the comments below. This is how mine turned out. Hope you have as much fun as i did :D
This is a lovely little activity which gives you the opportunity to create a disk that reminds you of all the strategies you use to help you feel calm.
Wouldn't you like to hand your worries over to a hungry little monster who likes nothing more than eating worries? Here you can design your own.
From Tuesday 11th August you can book your child onto a creative 1-1 or counseling/coaching or for Integral Eye Movement Therapy. You can do this by emailing: admin@enlightening.org.uk or phoning/texting: 07722 285 367 (please be patient as we are staffing this on a part-time basis). You can also Direct Message us on Facebook. We look forward to seeing you in our space again. Please see our visitor protocol below.
This is a lovely little activity for those of us who find it hard to sit still and it's also useful as a way to reflect on our friendships. We can think about the friends we have and why they are good friends and maybe what we like about ourselves as friends. They are very meditative to do and they also make a lovely gift.
This is a lovely activity to generate positive thinking. It is a little bit more fiddly than previously posted videos (well it was for me, at least!). These would make a lovely gift for Mother's or Father's day. But for us it is really important to come up with positive statements about yourself and then keep the pinwheel near your bed so that you can be reminded of your positive qualities every day.
There are various resources and sources of support for children, young people and adults produced by Greater Manchester Combined Authorities and the Greater Manchester Health and Social Care Partnership. We've posted 2 below but please go to this website for much, much more.
